Back Home (Again)

After being discharged on Thursday, 1/8, we had our first pediatric appointment the following day in South Riding on Friday afternoon. The baby was a little jaundice when we were discharged from the hospital and the docs and nurses assured that it was normal, etc and that it would pass with the standard feeding every 2-3 hours. When we saw the pediatrician on Friday we told her that he still wasn't eating much and she saw the jaundice setting in. She sent us to the Inova Labs in Fairfax to get a blood test for a bilirubin count and it came back elevated, clocking in a 22.3 (evidently anything over 20 is really pushing it) so she called us up and requested that we check into Reston hospital that night. Once we got there, we got our room with it's very own phototherapy machine which helps break down the bilirubin so his little body can pass it normally. We spent Friday and Saturday watching our little dude and by Sunday morning one of his many bilirubin blood test came back at 12 but they said it was probably even lower since it took them a few hours to get back to us with that test result. We are happy to say that he is now eating like a champ and we couldn't be happier. The crew at Reston hospital kicks so much ass it's not even funny. They really do love their jobs and it definitely shows.

Here's one more image from 1/9, our first day back home.

Big brother loves the new addition.

What the hell?
